Loook during TT Assen

During the TT motorcycle tour in Assen, Loook tested how location-based audio could enrich an existing route for motorcyclists as well. In the car, Loook already works naturally, but on a motorcycle the conditions are different: participants ride in groups, keep their hands on the handlebars and often listen through helmet communication systems.

TT Festival’s ambition

The TT is much more than a race weekend. In and around Assen, there is a rich motorcycling history, with former street circuits, legendary riders, iconic corners and stories that are quite literally hidden in the Drenthe landscape.

During the TT motorcycle tour, there was a great opportunity to bring that history to life along the way. Not with signs, screens or extra actions, but in a way that suits motorcyclists: safe, hands-free and fully experienced on the road.

The central question of this pilot was therefore: can short audio stories, triggered automatically at the right location, also add value during a motorcycle route without disrupting the riding experience?

The role of Loook

Loook developed a location-based audio experience for participants in the TT motorcycle tour. Through the app, motorcyclists heard short stories about places along the route, from the very first TT in 1925 to historic corners, old racing customs and remarkable moments from TT history.

The stories started automatically based on GPS. This meant participants did not have to tap or select anything and could simply keep riding. The route itself remained leading; Loook added an extra layer on top.

On-site activation also played an important role. At the start, participants were introduced to the app and feedback was collected on use, timing, content and overall experience. This made the TT motorcycle tour not only a beautiful ride, but also a valuable live test under real motorcycle conditions.

The first responses confirmed the strength of location-based audio for this target group. The stories were memorable, the timing felt logical and participants recognised the added value of short audio fragments starting at exactly the right moment. The pilot received an average rating of 8.4.

Future & integration

The pilot during TT Assen shows that Loook can add value not only in the car, but also on the motorcycle, enriching existing routes and events. In this way, a motorcycle route gains a digital story layer without participants having to interrupt their ride.

For the TT Festival, this opens up opportunities to further expand the experience. Think of multiple themed routes, stories around the former street circuit, sponsor activations, quiz questions, badges or special content for visitors, families and motorsport fans.

At the same time, it provides insight into usage and behaviour: which stories are listened to, where people engage and which elements contribute most to the overall experience. In this way, heritage is not only told, but also becomes a measurable part of the visitor experience.

Loook connecting heritage

Provinces possess numerous heritage sites and cultural hotspots that together form a single narrative, yet they are often experienced in isolation. Loook connects them with stories that trigger automatically along the way, allowing visitors to discover the underlying connection.
